This is an apron I sewed for my friend Briana. She’s been a friend for over 10years back home from Miami. We sent each other cute letters via snail mail and we have also sent each other hand-made gifts. This past Halloween, I made her an apron.

I had absolutely no pattern or instructions on how to make it. I simply just looked online for bits of inspiration. And out of my own mind and measurements, I created and sewed this apron. The two main detail pieces are the pocket, which is shaped as a spider’s web, and the stitching on the boarder; autumn leaves.

Being Indian and only looking Indian are two very different things. I’m not Indian, but I sure do look like I am. I’m asked almost every day “Where are you from?” I used to hate being asked that, but now, I’m so used to it. Because I look very Indian but mixed with something else, people can’t help but wonder if I actually am Indian or not. Well, I’m hispanic. Half Puerto RIcan and half Dominican. I was actually born in Puerto Rico. I have no Indian blood in my family at all. Well, when I see a beautiful Indian girl, I sometimes-almost-kind-of wish I were part Indian. Maybe I was in my past life. The girl in the hot pink is me, the (prettier) girl in the soft lighted photo is some photo I found online.

My Yorkie Snickers was a cow for Halloween!
